De Perfecte Rivier
single channel | 4k | runtime: 16:14 | Dutch with English subtitles | 2025
The Perfecte Rivier is a short film that departs from the idea of River Scheldt as something to look at. From a newly built 'watching wall' along the Ledeganckkaai in Antwerp, the film explores how urban development turns the river into a backdrop for city life where oversight, control, and commerce merge. Gradually, the directed gaze begins to falter. The camera stutters, the images glitch, and the essayistic voice slowly gives way to something more speculative: a story told not from the city, but from the mud: murky, slippery, alive.
