De Perfecte Rivier
single channel | 4k | runtime: 16:14 | Dutch with English subtitles | 2025
De Perfecte Rivier is a short film that departs from the idea of the river Scheldt as something to be looked at. From a newly constructed 'viewing wall' along the Ledeganckkaai in Antwerp, the film examines how urban development frames the river as a passive backdrop where commerce, perspective, and control come together. Throughout the film, the structured gaze begins to falter. The camera stutters, the images glitch, and the essayistic voice gradually gives way to something more speculative: a narrative told not from the city, but from the murky, vital, and slippery mud.
