Rivier Tijd  (2023)

When it is low tide in the Schelde river, a small beach becomes accessible full of washed up things that have been partially formed by the river: driftwood, plastic waste, glass bottles. These things consist for a part of the river, and the river consists partially of them. I brought some of these in to the studio and, through small interventions, created a musical network of Schelde-Things, that refer both visually  as audibly to the time of the river; a time that moves slower than human time and that has been part of earth for longerr. The musical composition is a sonificaiton of the water levels in the river, lowering in pitch when the level drops and increasing when the water rises.
