For A Sapling - In Memoriam (2023)

Michael Kleber Diggs, in his poem 'Gloria Mundi', imagines his fenural and how he wants it to be; lively and embedded in place and people. What strikes me most is his desire to become compost 'for a sapling' and provide for the follwing generations.

My father spent his last days in the living room of my parental home, surrounded by family. During these days me and my partner started braiding the leaves of an old Yucca plant I bought years ago when I first moved out. At his bedside we made  a rope. Weeks later, I attach coccon-like forms to the rope and wrap the remaing rope around a sappling of the Yucca;  imaging the ecology of my family.
